1. How do I register for NorkaRoots?

You can register in Portal by filling a simple form with few details, like name, email id, phone number, Date of Birth and Create Username and password for availing the services

2. What is NorkaRoots?

The field agency of NorkaRoots is known as the NorkaRoots, which was set up in 2002 to act as an interface between the Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) and the Kerala Government. It also acts as a forum for addressing the NRKs problem, safeguarding their rights and rehabilitating the returnees.

3. What is Pravasi Id (NorkaRoots ID)?

Pravasi ID card is the single stop for a non-resident Keralite to connect with the Kerala Government. This multi-purpose photo identity card entitles every NRK to avail all services and facilities offered by NorkaRoots, now and in future.

4. What are the benefits of Pravasi ID card?

PRAVASI ID card comes with an add-on of Personal Accident Insurance coverage of up to a maximum of Rs. 4 Lakhs. The card has a validity of 3 years.

5. What is NorkaRoots Pravasi Student ID?

As per the Government advise during covID-19, all students studying or secured admission for higher studies abroad, need NorkaRoots registration for various purposes. Hence Launched NorkaRoots Student ID card. The Card holders are eligible for the same Insurance coverage of PRAVSI ID Card.

6. What is the eligibility for attaining an ID card from NorkaRoots?

  • Should have completed 18 years of age
  • You should be a PRAVSI residing or working abroad with a valid passport and visa for at least 6 months.
  • Students who are already abroad.

7. What is the validity of Pravasi ID Card?

The validity of Pravasi ID card is three years and can be renewed.

8. How much is the registration fee for NorkaRoots Pravasi ID / Student ID?

The registration fee is Rs.315 per card (for 3 years).

9. How do I renew a NorkaRoots Pravasi ID/Student ID?

You can apply for renewal 3 months before the date of expiry. Copies of prescribed documents and renewal fee should be submitted.

10. How to get NorkaRoots Pravasi ID card?

After registering to the portal and then signing in, Apply for ID card by filling in the required details and uploading the relevant documents, paying the required fee and on final submission you can apply for ID card.

11. What all documents are required for applying NorkaRoots Pravasi ID?

Before applying make sure that all the required documents are scanned and prepared in jpeg formats

  • Copies of front and address page of the passport
  • Copy of Visa Page/ Iqama/ Work Permit/ Residence Permit
  • College / University details for Pravasi Student ID Card

12. How can I get an Insurance card/Pravasi Raksha from NorkaRoots?

After registering to the portal and then signing in, apply for the Pravasi ID Card/Pravasi Raksha by filling in the required details and uploading the relevant documents and making the payment.

13. What is Pravasi Raksha?

The insurance scheme called Pravasi Raksha Insurance Project benefits expatriates and their family members who are settled abroad with them. NorkaRoots Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy is launched with a purpose of Critical Illness Care for the Non-Resident Keralites residing or working abroad.

14. How much is the coverage amount from NorkaRoots Pravasi Raksha Insurance Card?

One Lakh for Critical Illness (as per schedule) on producing medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner. Apart from Critical Illness Care, add on benefit of Accident Insurance coverage of Rs.2 Lakhs for life and up to Rs.1 Lakh for permanent/partial disability.

15. What are the eligibility criteria for attaining Pravasi Raksha ID?

  • Should be a PRAVSI residing or working abroad with a valid passport and visa for at least 6 months
  • Age 18-60 years.
  • All Preexisting illnesses/ diseases are excluded from the scope of the policy.
  • Confirmation of illness by a registered Medical Practitioner must mandatorily submitted to the Company along with relevant testimonials, in evidence of having contracted a critical illness
  • Critical illness benefits for a particular illness as specified under the policy would be payable only once during the lifetime of each Insured person.
  • Critical Illness diagnosed within first 30 days from the inception of the policy will not be covered.
  • Insurance Company/ NorkaRoots having right to reject any claim in case of any misrepresentation of facts / documents /any details related to the claim.

16. What is the validity period of Pravasi Raksha ID?

The validity period of Pravasi Raksha ID card is one year and its renewable.

17. What all documents are required for Pravasi Raksha ID card?

The application fee is Rs.550/- (including premium) (for one year).

19. How do I renew a Pravasi Raksha ID Card?

You can apply for renewal 30 days before the date of expiry. Copies of prescribed documents and renewal fee should be submitted.

21. How can I apply for NPREM?

After registering to the portal and then signing in you can apply for NDPREM from NorkaRoots portal by selecting “NDPREM” and filling in the required details and uploading the relevant documents.

22. What are the eligibility criteria for applying for NDPREM?

  • The applicant should have not less than 2 years of work experience abroad.
  • Societies, trusts, companies formed by a group of returnees are also eligible to apply.
  • 15% subsidy on capital and 3% rebate on interest of loan are offered.

23. What is the procedure of NorkaRoots Home attestation?

Register online through the website of NorkaRoots-ROOTS. Online printouts of the registration along with prescribed application form of Home attestation are to be submitted in the offices of NorkaRoots-ROOTS. The application form along with original certificate forwarded to Home Department for attestation. The Home authenticated certificates are then forwarded for MEA/Embassy attestation (UAE/KSA/Qatar, Kuwait/Bahrain/ & Apostille stamping). Attested documents can be collected from the concerned NorkaRoots District cells/by speed post (on payment). To be noted for MEA/Apostille/Embassy attestation Additional copy of the passport and certificate need to be enclosed along with the Registration form. In connection with the attestation of the certificate of minors (Eg. Birth, T.C, etc.)- Parents passport needs to be submitted. In connection with attestation of death certificate, apart from the passport copy of the deceased, copy of the passport of the legal heirs need to be submitted. Handwritten certificates are not attested by UAE embassy.

24. How to apply for an overseas job from NorkaRoots portal?

You can apply for a job from NorkaRoots portal by selecting recruitments from the main dashboard after Login and search new jobs by selecting “More jobs to apply”.

25. What is Santhwana Scheme? Santhwana is a scheme that has been launched for returned NRKs in distress. Financial assistance is provided for four types of assistance to NRKs or his dependent family members under this scheme, as follows

26. What are the guidelines/instructions for Santhwana Scheme?

  • The photo and signature uploaded with the application should be clear. Applications without clarity will not be considered.
  • Santhwana scheme is for expatriates who have returned from expatriate life. Those currently working in abroad are not eligible.
  • The application must be submitted within the period of ten years (whichever is less) of the period of return or work abroad. (PRAVSI PERIOD: - EXAMPLE) #X worked abroad from 2007 to 2008 (8 years) - Add 8 years from the date of return (2015 + 8 = 2023) -X can apply for the Financial Assistance Scheme until 2023 #X worked abroad from 2007 to 2012 (5 years) 2012 + 5 = 2017 - X can only apply until 2017 The application must be verified by this condition
  • The applicant or the applicant's dependents should not be abroad while submitting the application.
  • Documents uploaded with the application should be very clear. Otherwise application will be rejected.
  • Certificate of Inheritance should be submitted in case of death assistance if the deceased is unmarried. In other applications, family membership certificate should be submitted.
  • Certificate of Relationship (Certificate of Relationship between Expatriate and Daughter) issued by the Village Officer should be produced in the marriage applications.
  • Original medical certificate must be produced at the time of enquiry (in case of medical assistance).
  • The bank account submitted with the application should be an active savings bank account. NRI account or inactive account or joint account should not be produced. Must be a bank account in the name of the applicant.
  • When applying online, one must enter the date of first departure (Departure date) and the last date of return (Arrival date) in that passport.
  • The income certificate should be in the name of the applicant.
  • ONE AND SAME CERTIFICATE should be produced from the Village Office if there is any discrepancy between the names of the applicant or expatriate in the documents submitted.
  • The phone number and e-mail ID provided with the application should be that of the applicant. The office will be contacted in the future to take further action on the application.
  • Ration card in the name of the applicant should be produced when applying for Santhwana financial assistance.
  • If you are an expatriate, dependent of an expatriate, Central / State Government employee or service pensioner, you are not eligible to apply.
  • Currently those earning more than Rs 1.5 lakh per annum are not eligible to apply.

27. How many times can an applicant apply for Santhwana scheme?

Santhwana scheme is a one-time financial assistance.

28. When can a returnee apply for Santhwana?

  • Financial assistance to meet the medical treatment expenses of the NRK or his dependent family members
  • Death assistance to family members of the NRK
  • Marriage expenses of daughter of the NRK returnee
  • To buy artificial limbs, crutches, wheelchair or other aids to overcome the physical disability.

29. What are the eligibility criteria for applying in Santhwana Scheme?

  • Financial assistance to meet the medical treatment expenses of the NRK or his dependent family members
