Loka Kerala Sabha Regional Conference: Chief Minister to address the Malayalee Diaspora in the Middle East
The Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan will address the Non-Resident Keralaites in the Middle East in the inauguration of regional conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha to be held in Dubai on 15 and 16 February 2019. The public meeting is scheduled to be held at 7 pm at Etisalat Academy on 15 February 2019.
The conference shall also be attended by P. Sreeramakrishnan, Hon. Speaker; Ramesh Chennithala, Leader of opposition; Tom Jose IAS, Chief Secretary; Dr. K. Ellangovan IAS, NORKA Principal Secretary; P. T. Kunhimuhammed, Pravasi Welfare Board chairman; K. Varadarajan, NORKA ROOTS Resident Vice Chairman; K. Harikrishnan Namboothiri, NORKA ROOTS Chief Executive Officer.
The conference is hosted by the Loka Kerala Sabha members of the gulf region. There shall be cultural events that showcase the heritage and diversity of Kerala. This regional conference shall also be the curtain raiser to the second Loka Kerala Sabha conference to be held at the Legislative Assembly Complex in Thiruvananthapuram in January 2020.
Loka Kerala Sabha was constituted in order to facilitate the unity and co-operation of the Malayalee diasporas all over the world and for the cultural, social and economic development of Kerala. The first Loka Kerala Sabha conference was held on 12 and 13 January, 2018 at the Legislative Assembly Complex in Thiruvananthapuram.

NORKA ties up Syndicate Bank for Rehabilitation Scheme
NORKA ROOTS has decided to widen the service of the rehabilitation for returned emigrants scheme Norka Department Project for Returned Emigrant (NDPREM). As part of this, now the scheme is available through 3000 branches of a financial institutions.
NORKA ROOTS and Syndicate Bank entered a Memorandum of Undertaking (MoU) regarding the same, which was signed by K. Harikrishnan Namboothiri, CEO, NORKA ROOTS and K.V.N. Moorthi, Deputy General Manager, Syndicate Bank in the presence of D. Jagadees, General Manager, NORKA ROOTS; N. V. Mathai, administrative Officer, NORKA ROOTS, Mallika J Singh, Chief Manager, Syndicate Bank; Vijesh Kumar, Senior Manager and Ajith Mathew, Manager, Syndicate Bank.
The details of the scheme can be obtained from the Syndicate Bank branch in London (1 branch), Oman (15 branches of Musandam Company) apart from 248 branches in Kerala.
Currently, NORKA ROOTS provides capital subsidy and interest subsidy for loans through State Bank of India, Union Bank, South Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation, SC/ST Development Corporation, Kerala State Co-operative Agricultural and Rural Development Bank and Kerala State Pravasi Welfare Development cooperative Society to applicants registered in the NORKA ROOTS website, on first come first serve basis. Applicants are also given specialized training.
Projects with an investment cap of Rs. 30 Lakhs shall be eligible for a 15% capital subsidy, not exceeding Rs. 3 Lakhs. A total of Rs. 15 Crores has been allotted to the scheme for the financial year. Till date, 737 beneficiaries have received subsidies worth Rs. 8.70 crore through different financial institutions.

The First Middle East Regional Conference of Loka Kerala Sabha is going to be held on 15th and 16th of February 2019 at Etisalat Academy, Dubai. The conference will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan.
